Abstract

Wetlands which have an important role on the functioning of the ecological processes and the totality of this system are both house owner for many animals and plants, and they are natural filters. Therfore wetlands are the parts of nature which needs that significantly taking care. The Van reedy wetland that is the subject of this study is in the important situation in terms of the kinds of animals and plants which are live in. This area that is house owner for 150 sorts of birds in the southeast of the Van Lake enconters the threat of disappearance. Especially some human activities in this area threaten the area and the ecological balance. The devolopment of the airport that was complated a lot of years ago and destroyed an important part of the wetland, and the other building processes seem to affect the some parts of the wetland. Also the environmental arrangements and the underwork process of the local government seem to negatively affect the area. Furthermore the Coastal Road Project that was started to carry out short time ago, will traverse this area. During the field studies some finding of threats were determined and the reports of the experts were used.
