Abstract

Ninety-nine names of God are widely known in the Islamic tradition, this number corresponds to nine hundred ninety-nine in some sects. As a result, it is stated that the names are infinite, depending on whether Allah informs his servants with his attributes. In this context, the works known as Esma'ü'l-hüsna were revealed under the umbrella of Islam and Sufism. This understanding has found a serious response in Arab, Persian and Turkish literatures and both the verse and the author are written in Esma'ü'l-hüsna. In a limited work on the divine names in Turkish poetry, forty six were shown outside of Anatolia, twenty in Anatolian folk poetry, forty nine in dervish lodge poetry, and forty-eight in divan poetry. In these works, where divine names and adjectives are explained, there are issues such as the scope of names and adjectives, the provision and manifestations in the realm of being. When we look at the divan of Yunus Emre in this context, it is seen that the Words Hudâ and Yezdân, which originated in Persian, was used in many other words of Arabic origin, including the names of Hak, Hâlık Allah, Rahmân and Rahîm. It is seen that the words of Turkish origin, Tanrı and Çalap are heavily preferred. However, the word “Creator” has been used to express God in terms of both a noun and adjective aspects. In this study, it will be emphasized that the words Yunus Emre used in expressing God are rooted, meaning and contexts in which couplets are used and for what purposes.
