Abstract

The French philosopher, historian, intellectual and critic Paul Michael Focault is especially known for his critical work of social institutions on the human sciences. Inspired by Nietzsche and Heidegger's ideas, Foucault who is more concerned with the perennial truths in society worked on concepts of prison, police, insurance, madness, homosexuality and social rights. He built his whole system of thought on the effect of modernity on individuals and on new power relations. This paper aims to provide a brief overview of Michel Foucault's contribution to the world of thought. It outlines some of the concepts that Foucault has worked on. It then presents a brief review of some of his works on which he presents his views on art.
