Inspired by Nietzsche and Heidegger's ideas, Foucault who is more concerned with the perennial truths in society worked on concepts of prison, police, insurance, madness, homosexuality and social rights. He built his whole system of thought on the effect of modernity on individuals and on new power relations. This paper aims to provide a brief overview of Michel Foucault's contribution to the world of thought. It outlines some of the concepts that Foucault has worked on.
