Abstract

Mr. C. in The Idle Man novel, which firstly published in 1959, and which led to many discussions, and Alper in the film The Desolate Man, which has entered the vision in 2008 and attracted a great deal of attention, are two characters who cause illusion of establishing common point or similarity about loneliness and living alone. In fact, one of these characters lives loneliness aware of the society's diseases and far away, and above social acceptance; others lived in a depth of disease and loneliness that remained under social acceptance. In this study, it is aimed that psychoanalytically comparisons of the characters in the works and investigate the reasons for being idle and desolate in the context of various theories of the two opposite character with similar appearances that are involved in social life for half a century.
