Abstract

Studies in the field of linguistics date from to ancient Indian, Greek and Egypt. The language studies that got us on a historical journey started with the questions of how the language was born, and what the first language was. Modern linguistics is considered to starting with the Swiss linguist Ferdinand de Saussure in the first half of the 20th century. While language studies were seen as a side branch of other fields in previous periods, in the 20th century linguistics emerged as an independent branch of science by making the language itself a research topic and from now and again showed great improvement by cooperating with other branches. Saussure used the structuralist approach to study the relationship between the sub-units that make sense in language for the first time. Nowadays, linguistics is the source of many methods and techniques used in language teaching. Many educators, academics get this knowladge from linguistic sources and lead them to be used in a wide range of areas that teachers and students will understand. In this study, grammar committed to used modern linguistics methods will be studied.
