Abstract

The main foreign policy dynamics of Russia and Iran, especially towards the United States, security and cooperation in the region, and the desire for a formation of a multi-polar world on the global basis have reflected as strong partnerships in various fields between the two countries. There are cooperation and relationship topics with deeper historical context. Two important topics to be addressed in this study are the support of the Russia to Iran's nuclear program and the approaches of the two countries in the Caspian Sea region. If Iran's nuclear program is to be considered from Western perspective, mainly US’, it would be easier to understand Russia's support for Iran. The regional cooperation of the two countries is the other elements that constitute the background of the reasons for this support. The issue of the Caspian Sea Region is more intricate and multilateral. The littoral countries and the western powers have various direct or indirect interference in the region, which makes the issue more complicated. In this study, these two topics will be discussed separately.
