Abstract

The periods in which the products of folk culture are intensely produced and sustained are the stages of Birth, Marriage and Death depicted by Pertev Naili Boratav as Transitional Periods. The absence of a previously conducted systematic study related to the research subject to be discussed within the context of authenticity which represents the nostalgia, authenticity and originality has been considered to be a drawback in the field. The model suggested as the solution of this problem is the screening model and the method is field research. The main conclusions acquired in the research with a relation searching approach are that the traditional culture of Akpınar village shows similarity with the Tokat region due to the proximity although it is geographically located within the borders of Ordu province; the old name of Akpınar is Kuzköy; birth, marriage and death customs and the folk music elements are gradually changing and transforming with the effect of popular culture; 5 folk songs of the region not being included in records yet have been compiled and note texts have been written down. The research is considered to be important due to being the first systematic source belonging to the region and its contributions to the field.
