Abstract

This study consists of two parts. First part of the study contains transaction costs theory. Transaction concept, history of transaction costs, approaches of transaction costs, framework of transaction costs, behavioral assumptions of transaction costs take place in first part of the study. Thereby, it can be said that the first part of the study includes theoretical information about transaction costs theory. Second part of the study examines transaction costs theory with its critical dimensions aspect. The basic research question of this perspective is handled in the framework of arguments of Whyte (1994). Critical dimensions of transaction costs, asset specificity, definition of asset, classification of asset specificity, the relationship between asset specificity and vertical integration took place in the second part of the study. Second part of the study which focuses on critical dimensions of transaction costs theory is also accompanied with the first part of the study including the theoretical background of transaction costs theory. Within this context, interaction between these two factors evaluated in the second part of the study. In the framework of arguments of Whyte (1994).
