Abstract

The aim of this study was to investigate the divorce process of divorced individuals with children and your views on your post-divorce experiences. This study used a mixed methods research design and surveyed 23 divorced women and men who have children and different educational backgrounds. 60.8% of the respondents reported getting divorced due to conflicts and mistrust, 26% due to cheating, and 13% due to habits such as alcoholism and gambling. 86.9% of the respondents stated that ‘divorce was the right choice’, while 13% ‘wished that they had not divorced’ and reported ‘missing their old way of life’. 78.2 reported that they had to remain separate from their children and faced financial and spiritual challenges, while 21.7% stated that they face no difficulty. When the respondents were asked ‘how their children were influenced by the divorce process’, 78.2% responded that ‘their children were adversely affected and felt sad’ and 21.7% respondent that ‘their children not affected at all’. 39.1% of the respondents reported that their social relations did not change in the post-divorce process, 21.7% reported that their social relations were better in the pre-divorce period, and 17.3% reported that they always faced gossip
