This phonological aspect of Turkish language is seen in the works belonging to almost any period of Turkish language and Dede Qorqud stories as well. There are many examples of metathesis in these stories that display traces of historical periods of Turkish language and have been the source of countless studies. Identification of changes in phonological structure of our language makes it easier to comprehend the phonological processes from historical periods to modern times. This study will begin with information on Metathesis and various examples of it from Turkish language. Then, examples and number of Metathesis in Dede Qorqud stories will be presented. Vatican and Dresden copies of this work will be analyzed.
