Abstract

In our country, it is seen that student-centered approaches are adopted in education after the 2000s. In the student-centered approach, it is essential to act on the interests and needs of students while conducting teaching activities. In this approach, the responsibility of learning is placed on the students rather than the teachers. For this reason, it is very important to know the development characteristics of the target group in religious education, that is, to recognize the students. Students who study in formal education are usually present in childhood and youth period. In this research, it is aimed to determine the needs of today 's youth in religious education based on the developmental characteristics. In this context, the topic is discussed under two headings as general developmental characteristics of youth and religious-moral developmental characteristics. Then, in the conclusion section, suggestions on the issues that should be considered in religious education based on the developmental characteristics of young people studying at secondary education level are given. It is hoped that the research will be useful for to be met the educational needs of today's youth.
