Abstract

Thepurpose of thepresentstudywastoexaminehardinesslevels of Ahiskastudentsattending at Turkishuniversities in regardtovariousdemographicvariables. Withthispurpose, data werecollectedfrom a total of 393 studentsfrom 33 seperatestatefoundedTurkishuniversities. TheHardinesScale (HS) andtheDemographic Information Sheetwereused for data collection. Since the HS, whichwaspreviouslyadaptedtoTurkish, was not used in anystudy for Ahiskastudents, thevalidityandreliability of the HS wereexamined in thestudy, andthescalewasfoundappropriatetouse for Ahiskastudents. Then, a series of independentsamples t-tests, analyses of variance, and Pearson Product-Moment Correlationwereapplied. As a result, therewasnosignificantdifference in HS total andsubscalescores in terms of gender. HB total, control, andchallengescoresweresignificantlyhigher for studentswhosefamiliesareliving at Turkey, thanwhosefamiliesareliving in othercountries. HS total, control, andchallengescores of studentsbeganeducationfromelementaryschool in Turkey, weresignificantlyhigherthanscores of studentsbeganeducationfromhighereducation. Therewerenosignificantrelationshipbetweentheduration of residince at Turkeyandthe HS total andsubscalescores.
