Abstract

This study was conducted with individuals over the age of eighteen who were raised in foster families through various institutions during their childhood years. Approaches of the participants to their foster families as a result of their effects on their own lives were evaluated through both institutional experiences and foster family experiences. In this study, it is aimed to raise awareness about the ‘Foster Family’ model, which enables the children in need of protection to grow in the family environment, to draw attention to the importance of foster family model, and to contribute to the development of new policies in order to further improve and develop this model. Interview technique, which is one of the qualitative methods, was used in the research. The information of the individuals who form the sample group was obtained with structured questions. As stated in many studies, the conformity of the ‘Foster Family’ Model for children in need of protection has also been revealed once again in this study. However, it is noteworthy that this conformity can be demonstrated through the eyes of children raised in foster families, and the importance of the issue and the development and dissemination of the subject is remarkable. It was obtained that the gains obtained in the fields are quite high. Another striking point is that they prefer to stay under protection in order to benefit from the opportunities provided by the state. The participants' common views on the importance and diffusion of the Foster Family Model support the aim of the study
