In the scope of “Muhteşem Yüzyıl”, it is analysed in this study that in which aspects the academicians, artists and members of the media study the discussions on how “historical reality” and “fiction” concepts should be reflected on contents of series and how they approach this topic. Discussions about the series are carried on within the framework of the news and columns published after the then prime minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s statement: “We didn’t know Kanuni like this. We don’t have an ancestor like this.” in November, 2012. Analyses conducted through qualitative and quantitative content analysis are evaluated in the framework of the issues of national press published on the Internet and the websites which included the mentioned discussions in their news through determined categories. These categories are “those which argue that the series should be based on historical facts and reflect the reality”, “those which argue that the series is a fiction even if it is based on historical facts”, “those which argue that politics is carried out through the TV series in order to change the agenda”, “those which argue anti-democratic politics is carried out.”},author={Ülkü BÖREKCİ},year={2020},journal={The Journal of Social Sciences}}
