Abstract

Soft power is the ability to influence what people want to have a say in a person or society and to make them to do something. The concept of soft power is an attempt by states to adopt their thoughts on a matter by using sanctioning power rather than by hot conflict. Several elements of soft power have been used since ancient times. The soft power emerged as a concept with the start of the Cold War and has been used more intensively to this day. This study investigates the soft power as one of the important issues of international politics, the development of the soft power, Turkey's soft power and to what extent Turkey deploys her soft power elements, and the role of trade as a component of soft power.
