Abstract
As the web services pervade on the Internet in service and data dissemination, their features on providing secure transaction becomes more important. Well-known and extensively used SSL service is in widespread use in conducting business and secure data operations over web services. In technical terms, the reliability of SSL service depends on the validity of the digital certificates used in it. Unfortunately, an excessive number of SSL-web services uses invalid digital certificates which pops up warning message windows on user browsers. We scrutinized the web-site administrator motives and drives that lead them to use self-signed digital certificates in their SSL services.
