Abstract

Türkiye’de Batılı anlamdaki heykel sanatının tarihini, Avrupa ve Hıristiyan kültüründeki kadar uzun bir geçmişe sahip değildir. Türkiye’de heykelin tarihi ancak yüz yıllık bir süreci kapsar. Ancak Türk kültüründeki yontuculuğa ait yüzyıllar öncesine dayanan örneklerin de bulunduğu unutulmamalıdır. İnsan betimleyen yapıtlar yerine, süsleme ve anıtsal yapılara ilişkin süsleme ağırlıklı yontu örnekleri bulunmaktadır. Türbeler, sebiller, konaklar, saraylar taş-ağaç yontu ve oymacılığın önemli örneklerini taşır. Selçuklu ve Osmanlı dönemine ait yapılardaki kabartmalar; geometrik ya da bitkilerden esinlenen, hayvan betimlemelerinin yer aldığı yontular, Barok dönemin etkisini taşıyan çeşmeler yontu sanatının zenginliği oluşturan değerlerdir. Batılı anlamda resim ve heykelin gelişimi ise 1883 yılında ülkenin ilk güzel sanatlar okulu olan Sanayi-i Nefise Mektebi’nin kurulmasıyla başlamıştır. 1923’de laik Türkiye Cumhuriyeti’nin kurulmasıyla birlikte her alanda yapılan yenilikler, modernleşme, kalkınma ve reform hareketleri sanat alanında da açılımlara neden olmuştur. Çağdaş Türk heykel sanatının gelişiminde Türk Kültürünün önemli bir yere sahip olduğu söylenebilir. Bu çalışmada, Türk Heykel sanatının oluşumu incelenip gelişim sürecinden örnekler verilerek günümüz heykel sanatında kültürel izler üzerinde okumalara yer verilecektir.

Abstract
