Abstract
Bu çalışmanın konusu, Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar’ın 1950 yılında Yücel Dergisi’ne verdiği mülakatta Türkiye’nin sosyal ve ekonomik yapısı ve eğitim sistemimizin o günlerdeki güncel sorunlarına ve konularına dair söyledikleridir. Tanpınar’ın edebiyat tarihçisi, romancı, şair, fikir adamı olmasının yanında bir de üniversite hocası bir eğitimci olarak eğitimle ilgili görüşlerinin önemli olduğu şüpheden uzaktır. 1950 yılının 14 Mayıs’ında demokratik sisteme geçişle birlikte Türkiye’nin siyasî yapısında önemli bir dönüşüm yaşanmış ve Türk siyasî hayatında yeni bir dönem başlamıştır. Öte yandan Türkiye’de o tarihlerde nüfusun önemli bir kısmının köylerde yaşıyor olması ve Türkiye’de sanayi toplumuna geçmek için çalışmaların artmaya başladığını düşündüğümüzde, Tanpınar’ın görüşlerinin, Türkiye’de eğitim sistemi ve sosyal yapı arasındaki ilişkiye, Türkiye tarihinin önemli bir döneminden bakma imkânı vermesi açısından da önemlidir. Türkiye’de hâlâ Tanpınar’ın o dönemde de tespit ettiği gibi eğitim sistemimizin en önemli sorunlarının başında verimlilik gelmektedir. Ülkemizde birçok sorunun kaynağı olarak eğitim sistemi gösterilmekte ve eğitim sisteminin nasıl yapılandırılacağı sorusu güncelliğini kaybetmemektedir.

Abstract
The topic of this study is what Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar said about Turkey's social and economic structure and the current issues and topics of our education system in those days in an interview with the Journal of Yücel in 1950. It is far from doubt that Tanpınar's views about education are important as an academician as well as a literature historian, novelist, poet and intellectual. A great transformation took place in Turkey's political structure with the transition to democracy in 14 May 1950, and a new era has begun in Turkish political life. Moreover, Tanpınar’s thoughts are also important in that they provide the opportunity to look at a significant period of Turkey’s history, the relationship between education system and social structure in Turkey when we think that a substantial part of the population were living in villages at those times in Turkey and the studies had begun to increase in order to proceed towards an industrial society in Turkey. One of the most important problems of our education system is still productivity in Turkey as Tanpınar noted at that time. Education system is regarded as the source of many problems in our country and the question how the education system will be structured does not lose its currency.
