Abstract
Araştırmanın amacı, 6. Sınıf Sosyal Bilgiler ders, öğrenci ve öğretmen kılavuz kitaplarında Sosyal Bilgiler dersine ait 5 temel beceriden biri olan Sosyal katılım becerisine yer verilme durumunu tespit etmektir. Bu amaç doğrultusunda sosyal katılım becerisinin kazandırılması hedeflenen ünite olan “Demokrasinin Serüveni” ünitesi incelenmiştir. Araştırma nitel bir çalışmadır. Doküman analizi tekniği ile veriler toplanmaya çalışılmıştır. Betimsel analiz ile de veriler analiz edilmiştir. Çalışma sonucunda sosyal katılım becerisine ait becerilerin (etkinliklere katılma, yapılan etkinliklerde tek başına çalışma, bir grupla işbirliği içinde çalışma, toplumsal konularda sorumluluk alma, sivil toplum kuruluşlarına yardımcı olma, toplumsal sorunlarla ilgilenme, toplumu ilgilendiren konularda bir grup oluşturma ve insan hakları ve demokrasi ilkelerine saygı duyma) büyük bir kısmına, incelenen ders, çalışma ve öğretmen kılavuz kitaplarında yer verilmediği tespit edilmiştir.

Abstract
The aim of the study is to determine the state of being covered of social participation ability, which is one of five basic skills in Social Studies subject, within Social Studies course books, student books, and teacher guidebooks. In line with this aim, the unit on “the Adventure of Democracy” throughout which the goal is to gain students the social participation ability was investigated. The research is a qualitative study. The data was collected by means of the technique of document analysis. The data was analyzed also with descriptive analysis. In result of the study, it was found that a substantial part of the skills among social participation abilities (engagement in activities, working individually in activities, working in collaboration with a group, taking responsibilities for social issues, assisting non-governmental organizations, dealing with social problems, founding a group for social issues, and respecting for human rights and democracy principles) are not included in the examined course books, student books and teacher guidebooks.
