Abstract
Bahriye Mektebi bünyesinde sonradan açılan Güverte Mektebi, mühendislerin yetiştirilmesinde önemli bir rol oynamıştır. Güverte Deniz Mühendisliği talebelerinin mektepte aldıkları dersleri pekiştirebilmeleri için de uygulamalı eğitime ihtiyaç duyulmuştur. Bu amaçla talebeler, talim gemilerine sevk edilmişlerdir. Talim gemilerindeki tahsilden maksat talebeye askeri talim ve terbiye vererek Bahriye Zabiti olacak şekilde mesleklerine hazır hale getirebilmektir. Aynı zamanda mesleklerini hem vicdani hal ve tarzda öğrenebilmeleri hem de Türkiye ile yabancı devletlere ait sahil ve limanlarda seyir halindeki gemilerin işleyişi hakkında bilgi sahibi olmalarını sağlamaktır. Gemilerdeki güverte talebelerinin hepsine mümkün mertebe aynı derecede tahsil verilerek gemi ve deniz konularını tam olarak anlayabilmelerine dikkat edilmiştir. Güverte talebelerinin iki senelik talim gemisi eğitimleri 1928 senesinde Berk-i Satvet mektep kruvazöründe verilmeye başlanmıştır. Güverte Mektebi talebeleri, bu gemide tahsil ve terbiye gördükten sonra Güverte Zabiti olabiliyorlardı. Aşağıda, Berk-i Satvet Kruvazöründe, Güverte Deniz Mühendisliği talebelerine verilen eğitim anlatılmıştır.

Abstract
The Deck School, which was opened later in Marine School, plays an important role in training the engineers. Practice training was needed to reinforce the classes received by students of Deck Sea Engineering. For this purpose, the students were transferred to training ships. The purpose in training ships was to provide the students with military training and morality, and make them become ready for their future professions, naval engineer officers. At the same time, to be able to learn their profession in a conscientious manner and style, and to have knowledge about the operation of vessels on the coasts and ports of Turkey and foreign states. It has been noted that all of the the ship’s deck crews should be given the same amount of time as possible to fully understand the ship and sea subjects. The 2-year training for Deck students were started to be provided in Berk-i Satvet School Cruiser in 1928. The Deck School students could become naval engineer officers after they received training and morality in this ship. The stages of the training provided in Berk-i Satvet Cruiser to Deck Sea Engineering students are explained below.
