Abstract
Bu çalışma, Cahit Sıtkı Tarancı’nın Korktuğum Şey isimli şiirinin göstergebilimsel incelemesini konu alır. Modern dil bilimci Ferdinand de Saussure göstergebilimi; göstergelerin ne olduğunu, hangi yasalara bağlandığını öğretecek bir bilim dalı olarak görür. Aynı zamanda, göstergebilim okuyucuya bir eseri, farklı bakış açıları ile yeni okumalar sağlayabilecek yapısal bir analiz yöntemidir. Cahit Sıtkı’nın şiiri incelenirken “Karşıtlık ve Karşılaştırma Tekniği”, “Kişi Kesiti”, “Kelime ve İbare Yinelemeleri”, “Eylem Kesiti”, “Biçimsel Yapı”, “Yüzey Yapı” ve “Derin Yapı” açısından değerlendirilecektir. Ayrıca, derin yapı incelenirken “Greimas’ın Göstergebilimsel Dörtgeni”nden yararlanılmıştır. Bu analiz sonucunda şiirdeki alt anlamlar, metaforlar ve semboller ortaya çıkarılmıştır. Şiir ölüm korkusunu, yalnızlaşmayı, dolayısıyla karamsar bir bakış açısını vurgular.

Abstract
This work is about the semiotic study of Cahit Sıtkı Tarancı’s poem “Korktuğum Şey” (My Fear / The Thing That I Fear). According to modern linguistic scientist Ferdinand de Saussure; semiotics is a scientific branch that teaches about signs and the laws they get attached. Moreover, it is an analysis method that shows readers new views to interpret the selected work. Several techniques are used while working on the poems including “Contradiction and Comparison Technique”, “Characters Section”, “Word and Phrase Iteration”, “Action Section”, “Format Structure” and “Deep Structure”. The “Semiotic Square” (Greimas square) is used while studying the deep structure. With the aid of this comprehensive analysis the hidden meanings, metaphors and symbols come to light. It can be said that, the poet involves fear of death, becoming loneliness, desolation and ultimately pessimism. This elements show similarity to the overall poetry poetics of Cahit Sıtkı.
