Abstract
Türk kültüründe “düğünlerde gelinleri süsleyen ve onlara kılavuzluk eden kadınlar” için birçok farklı adlandırmanın kullanıldığı çeşitli kaynaklarca saptanmıştır. “Telek” adlandırması da Yalova İli Manavları’nın sözü edilen tanımlamayı karşılamak için tercih ettiği sözcük olarak tespit edilmiştir. Bu çalışmada, düğünlerde gelinleri süsleyen ve onlara kılavuzluk eden kadınların Türk kültüründeki konumlarından bahsetmek, “telek” ve “teleklik” kavramlarını tanımlamak ve açımlamak hedeflenmektedir. Bununla beraber, “telek” kelimesinin etimolojik yapısı incelenerek dilsel yolculuğundan söz edilmekte ve “telek” sözcüğünün kavram alanı Yalova İli Manavları’ndan derlenen metinlerle tanıklanarak ortaya çıkarılmaya çalışılmaktadır.

Abstract
In order to meet the concept of “women adorning and guiding brides at weddings” in Turkish culture, it was determined from various sources that many different names are used. The term “telek” is identified as the preferred word for the locals of Yalova to meet the mentioned definition. In this study, it is aimed to explain the position of “women adorning and guiding brides at weddings”, define and explain the concept of “being telek”. In addition to this, the word “telek” is examined in terms of etymological perspectives and the linguistic journey of this word is explained. The concept field of the word "telek" is also tried to be revealed through the texts compiled from the locals of Yalova.
