Abstract

Selçuklu Devleti’nin Karadeniz havzasıyla irtibatı Çağrı Bey’in 1018 seferiyle başlamıştır. Çağrı Bey’in batı seferi, ilk bakışta Doğu Karadeniz Bölgesi açısından herhangi bir sonuç vermemiştir. Ancak, Çağrı Bey’in akınından İbrahim Yınal’ın Hasankale Zaferiyle sonuçlanan seferine kadarki otuz yıllık süreçte, Bayburt’tan Trabzon’a kadarki sahada Bizans hâkimiyeti bizzat Selçuklu sultanlarının katıldığı fetih seferinde, Oğuz beylerinin de öncülüğünde son bulmuştur.

Abstract

The contact of the Seljuk State with the Black Sea basin began with the 1018 campaign of Cagri Bey. At first sight, Cagri Bey's western expedition did not give any results for the East Black Sea Region. However, in the thirty years period until the Hasankale Victory of Ibrahim Yinal from Cagri Bey's group, the Byzantine dominitation in the field from Bayburt to Trabzon ended under the leadership of the Seljuk Sultans themselves and under the leadership of the Oguz beys. After they conquered Sarki Karahisar in 1058, Savsat and Artvin in 1064, at the end of the Battle of Malazgirt, as in all parts of Anatolia, they had also spread out to the East Black Sea Region. After the Battle of Malazgirt, the collapsing political domination of Byzantium in Trabzon and its environs was rebuilt by Theodore Gabras. Gabras took Trabzon, which was conquered by the Seljuks right after the Battle of Malazgirt in 1075, immediately back, and by controlling the coastal section from Sinop to Trabzon he had kept the region under his control until 1140. In the period of Kilij Arslan II, Trabzon and its environs entered the Seljuk rule, but in 1204, the Komnenos dominated the region. However in 1214, with the conquest of Sinop, the Trabzon Komnenos were entered into the Seljuk nationality, and the most important political force against the Turks in the region was taken under control.
