Abstract
Osmanlı donaması her yıl mevsimi derya olarak adlandırılan dönemde Akdeniz seferini gerçekleştirmekteydi. Genellikle Mayıs ayının başlarından, Ekim ayının sonlarına kadar devam eden bu seferin ana amacı düşman, korsan ve deniz haydutlarının saldırılarına karşı Osmanlı sularının ve kıyılarının güvenliğinin sağlanmasıydı. Donanma hava koşullarının bozulmaya başladığı sonbaharda merkez üssüne, İstanbul’daki Tersane-i Amire’ye geri dönmekteydi. Ancak düşman ve korsan gemilerinin Osmanlı gemi ve kıyılarına yönelik saldırı tehdidinin bundan sonra kış mevsiminde de devam ediyor olması donanmanın Tersane-i Amire’ye döndüğü dönemde ayrı bir muhafaza tedbirinin hayata geçirilmesini gerektirmekteydi. Osmanlı Devleti bu amaçla, kış muhafazası için Akdeniz’e ayrıca gemiler görevlendirmekteydi. Bu bildiride Osmanlı Devleti’nin Akdeniz sularının korunması için kış muhafazasını nasıl gerçekleştirdiği açıklanmaktadır. Çalışmada ne tür gemilerin kış muhafazasıyla görevlendirildiği, bu gemilerin nasıl hazırlandığı, kış muhafazasının özel olarak belli bölgelerde yoğunlaşıp yoğunlaşmadığı gibi sorulara cevap verilecektir.

Abstract
Each year, the Ottoman navy made her Mediterranean operation in the period called mevsimi derya (maritime season). This operation generally started by the beginning of May and continued until the end of October. The aim of this operation was to secure the Ottoman waters and coasts against the enemies, corsairs and the pirates. The Navy was returning to the Tersane-i Amire, its central base in Istanbul in the fall when the whether conditions was starting to become bad. However, enemy and corsair ships continued to threaten the Ottoman ships and coasts also in the winter. This in turn, necessitated another defence mechanism in the period where the navy was in the Tersane-i Amire. For this purpose, the Ottoman State assigned additional ships in the Mediterranean for the winter defence. This study investigates how the Ottoman State realized the winter defence for defending the Mediterranean waters. The study answers to the questions such as which type of ships were assigned for the winter defence, how these ships were prepared for the defence, whether certain areas were focussed or not.
