Abstract
Engellilere yönelik sosyal politikalar Birleşmiş Milletler (BM)’in çabalarıyla İkinci Dünya Savaşından sonra başlamış ve özellikle de 1970’li yıllardan sonra birçok ülkede engellilik konusu daha fazla önem kazanmıştır. Engelli bireylerin toplumdaki diğer bireyler gibi yaşamalarına olanak sağlamak için oluşturulan sosyal politikalar sayesinde de engelli bireyler de artık toplum ile iç içe yaşamaya başlamıştır. Dünyada giderek yükselen yaş ortalaması ve artan yaşlı nüfusu ile birlikte engelli nüfusu da artmakta ve bundan dolayı da engelli bireylere ve onların topluma kazandırılmasına hususuna verilen önem ile bu konudaki politikalar da giderek artmaktadır. Engelli hakları ile ilgili en önemli gelişme 2006 yılında imzalanan BM engelli hakları sözleşmesidir. Bu çalışmada Avrupa Birliği (AB)’nin ve bazı gelişmiş ülkelerin engelli bireylere yönelik düzenlemiş oldukları sosyal politikalara yer verilmiştir.

Abstract
Social policies for the people with disabilities have begun after the World War II with the efforts of the United Nations (UN) the issue of disability has gained more importance after the 1970s in many countries. In order to enable people with disabilities to live like other individuals in the society, disabilities are now intertwined with society through the social policies. With the increasing average age and the increasing elderly population in the world, the disabled population also increasing. Therefore the policies on this subject are increasing with the importance given to the people with disabilities and their integration into society. The most important development for the rights of people with disabilities is the UN disability rights agreement which signed in 2006. In this study are included, European Union (EU) and some developed countries social policies for people with disabilities.
