Abstract
İnsanlar geçmişten günümüze karşılaştıkları benzer durumları belli davranış kalıplarına sokarak yeni kuşaklar aktara gelmişlerdir. Arketip kavramı ilk örnek, asıl numune, özgül model anlamlarına gelmektedir. Diğer arketipler gibi İhtiyar adam arketipinin de mitlerden dinlere uzanan köklü yapısıyla dikkat çekicidir. Bu bağlamda Türk kültür ve edebiyatında İhtiyar adam arketipi önemli bir yer tutmaktadır. Bu çalışmanın amacı Türk halk hikâyelerinde yer alan ihtiyar adam arketipini incelemektir. Bu çerçevede ihtiyar adam yedi aşk hikâyesi bir kahramanlık hikâyesinde geçtiği tespit edilmiştir. Halk hikâyelerindeki ihtiyar, yaşlı adam, derviş, aksakallı ihtiyar, nur yüzlü, pir gibi adlarla geçen kişi Hızır’dır. Yaşlı adam, hikâyelerde çocuğu olmayan padişah, şah, vezir gibi toplumun üst tabakasına mensup kişilerin çocuk sahibi olmalarına vesile olarak doğacak çocukların yazgısını da belirler. Hikâye kahramanlarının normal hayatta başaramadıkları âşıklık yetisini rüyalarına girerek kazandırır. Ayrıca hikâye kahramanına şifa, sağlık verme; zaman ve mekân aşma; son olarak da dar ve zor durumdan bir anda kurtarma işlevlerine de sahiptir.

Abstract
People transfered to the new generetions that the similar issues by stereotyping in the certain behaviour which have faced from past to today. The notion of archetype means first example, essential sample, specific model. Like the other archetypes, the rooted structre which stretchs out from the myths to the religions. In this context the archetype of old man in Turkish culture and literature has an important place. Within this scope the old man can be seen in seven love stroies and in a romance. The names like old man, hoar, dervish, hoar with white beard, cherub, sage are Hızır in the folk stroies. The old man affords to sultan, shah and vizier who are belong with the high level of the society, to hold child and determines the destiny of those children. He brings in to the story heroes the ability of devotion whiv they can not succeed in their normal life, by haunting their dream. Also he gives to the story heroes; recovery and healing, passing over the time and place, and finally immediate getting rid of from the hard situtations.
