Abstract
Birçok tartışma içinde yer alan Ulusallık/Evrensellik kavramları, ağırlıklı olarak 1960’lı yıllarda çeşitli konu başlıkları altında irdelenerek, farklı gibi görünen ancak odak noktasında aynı sorunsalı barındıran anlamlar içermektedir. Doğu-Batı, eski-yeni, figüratif-nonfigüratif, soyut-somut gibi karşıtlıklar ile bunları temel alan pek çok görüş, toplum içinde sanatın yerinin sorgulandığı, sanatın bir eğitim aracı olarak işlevi, sanatçıların toplumun gelişimine yönelik attığı adımlar gibi konularda çoğu zaman tartışma konusu olmuştur. Batı’ya dönük anlayışa paralel olarak evrensel değerlerin yanında, ulusal olmanın rolü de tartışmalara başka bir boyut kazandırmıştır. Ulusallık/Evrensellik, Türk Sanatı içinde farklı dönemlerde siyasî, kültürel, toplumsal açılardan etkilenerek, farklı boyutlara da taşınmıştır. “Köklere dönüş / gelenek”, “halka inmek / topluma yönelmek” gibi kavramlarla ön planda tutulmaya çalışılan bu yaklaşımlar, çoğunlukla “kimlik olarak Türklük”, “geleneksellik ve yerellik”, “öze dönme”, “geçmişten beslenme”, “çağdaşlaşma”, “dışa yönelme” gibi çeşitli kavram ve görüşlerle birlikte ele alınmıştır. Bu bağlamda Ulusallık/Evrensellik, ağırlıklı olarak 1980 yılı ve sonrasında yerini “Küreselleşme” kavramına bırakarak yeni tartışmalara da etki etmiştir.

Abstract
The concepts of Nationalism/Universalism as the subject of many discussions, were studied under various topics mainly in the 1960s and contained meanings that seem different but focus on the same problem. Contrasts such as East-West, Old-New, figurative-non-figurative, abstract-concrete, and many views based on them are often discussed on issues such as the role of art in society, the function of art as an educational tool, and the steps taken by artists towards the development of the society. In parallel with the Western understanding, besides the universal values, the role of nationality has brought another dimension to the debate. Nationalism/Universalism was influenced by political, cultural and social aspects in different periods of Turkish Art and moved to different dimensions. These approaches, which are tried to be prioritized with concepts such as "return to roots / tradition", "descend to the level of public / tend towards the society" have mostly been discussed together with various concepts and opinions such as "Turkishness as an identity", "tradition and locality", "returning to the self", "nourishing from the past", and "modernization”. In this context, Nationalism/ Universalism gave place to the concept of "Globalization" mainly in 1980 and afterwards, and also influenced new discussions.
