Abstract
Sanat kurumlarında eğitimin ilk basamağını oluşturan temel tasarım eğitimi, ögeleri ve ilkeleri ile tasarımın görsel dilinin kavranmasını hedefler. Renk, bu görsel dil içerisinde fiziksel ve kimyasal yapısı, kültürel ve psikolojik anlamlarıyla güçlü bir ifade aracı olarak yer alır. Aynı şekilde otoportre de, hem sanatçının üslubunu hem de iç dünyasını yansıtan bir anlatım dilini kullanır. Sanatçının kendinden hareket ederek sorgulamalarını, denemelerini yapabildiği ve farklı ifade yöntemlerinin zengin arayışlarını yansıtan otoportre, öğrenciye denemelerini yapabilecek ortamı sunması nedeniyle sanat eğitiminde de yer verilen bir konudur. Bu çalışma, temel tasarım eğitiminde renk ögesinin otoportre aracılığıyla araştırılması ve deneyimlenmesinin renk eğitimine katkısını incelemeyi amaçlamaktadır. Bu bağlamda araştırma, sırasıyla rengin temel tasarım eğitimi içerisindeki yerini vurgularken, sanat tarihinden usta isimlerle renge yaklaşımları üzerine bir inceleme ile otoportre konusuna bakışı kapsamakta ve öğrenci projelerinden örnekleri değerlendirmektedir.

Abstract
Basic design education, which constitutes the first step of education in art institutions, aims to comprehend the visual language of design with its elements and principles. Color takes place in this visual language as a powerful means of expression with its physical and chemical structure, cultural and psychological meanings. Likewise, self-portrait uses a language of expression that reflects both the artist’s style and her inner world. Self-portrait, which artist can do self-questioning and experimentation and which reflects the deep pursuit for different methods of expression, is also a subject in art education as it offers the student an environment where they can experiment. The purpose of this study is to examine the contribution of researching and experiencing the color element through self-portrait in basic design education to color education. In this context, while research emphasizing the place of color in basic design education, it incorporates perspectives on self-portraits by examining approaches to color with master figures from art history and evaluates examples from student projects.
