Abstract
Çevre sorunlarının her geçen gün artması ve bu durumun canlıların yaşamını tehlikeye sokması; bireylerin gezegeni korumak, yaşanılabilir hale getirmek ve gezegenin yaşam ömrünü uzatabilmek adına çevreye karşı olan tutum ve davranışlarını, görev ve sorumluluklarını, çevre bilinçlerini tekrar gözden geçirmelerini gerektirmektedir. Bu anlamda dünyanın doğal kaynaklarının sürdürülebilirliği açısından toplumun bütün bireylerinin sorumlulukları bulunmaktadır. Özellikle üniversite öğrencilerinin içinde yaşadıkları doğal ve sosyal çevreye dair sorumluluk geliştirmeleri sadece üniversiteleri ve kendileri açısından değil, tüm toplum için büyük önem arz etmektedir. Bu bağlamda çevre bilincinin artması, sürdürülebilirliğin sağlanabilmesi çerçevesinde adımlar atılması önemlidir. Bu çalışmanın amacı; gelecekte üretime işgücü olarak katılacak, topluma ve çevresindeki bireylere etkisi yüksek olacak üniversite öğrencilerinin çevreye karşı duyarlılıklarını belirlemek üzere çevre davranışlarını saptamaktır. Bu kapsamda, İzmir Demokrasi Üniversitesi’nde öğrenim gören öğrenciler arasından kolayda örnekleme yöntemi ile seçilen toplam 411 kişiye online anket uygulanmıştır. Yapılan faktör analizi sonucu; “çevreye duyarlı faaliyetlerde bulunma”, “geri dönüşüm çabaları”, “sorumlu vatandaş olma”, “kaynak koruma çabaları” olmak üzere dört faktör elde edilmiştir. Bu faktörler açısından öğrencilerin demografik özelliklerine göre farklılıkları analiz edebilmek ve bu faktörlerle öğrencilerin sigara kullanım durumları ve sigara kullanım sıklıkları arasındaki ilişkileri ortaya koyabilmek amacıyla hipotezler geliştirilmiştir. Sonuçlar; öğrencilerin sorumlu vatandaş olmaları açısından cinsiyetlerine, annelerinin eğitim düzeylerine, mesleklerine ve ailelerinin aylık gelirlerine göre, geri dönüşüm çabaları açısından babalarının mesleklerine ve ailelerinin aylık gelirine göre farklılıklar olduğunu göstermiştir. Öğrencilerin çevreye duyarlı faaliyetlerde bulunmaları babalarının eğitim düzeylerine göre, kaynak koruma çabaları ise kişisel gelirlerine göre farklılık göstermektedir.

Abstract
Environmental problems are increasing day by day, endangering the survival of all living creatures. The scale of these problems requires individuals to examine their attitudes, behaviors, responsibilities and environmental consciousness in order to protect the planet, make it livable and prolong the life of the Earth. In this sense, all individuals in society have responsibilities for the sustainability of the world's natural resources. It is crucial that university students develop responsibility for the natural and social environment in which they live, not only for universities, but also for society as a whole. In this context, it is important to take steps to increase environmental awareness and ensure sustainability.The aim of this study is to determine environmentally friendly behaviors of university students whose potential impact on society as future members of the workforce can help improve the situation. In this context, an online questionnaire was applied to a total of 411 students selected by convenience sampling method among the students studying at Izmir Democracy University. As a result of the factor analysis, four factors were obtained: “environmentally friendly activities”, “recycling efforts”, “being a responsible citizen” and “resource conservation efforts”. In terms of these factors, hypotheses have been developed in order to analyze the differences according to the demographic characteristics of the students and to reveal the relationships between these factors and the smoking status and frequency of the students. The results showed that there are differences in terms of students' being responsible citizens according to their gender, education level and occupation of their mothers, and monthly income of their families; in terms of recycling efforts according to their fathers’ professions and their families’ monthly income. Students’ environmentally sensitive activities differ according to their fathers’ education levels, and resource conservation efforts differ according to their personal income.
