Abstract
“Die Dreigroschenoper / Üç Kuruşluk Opera”, geliştirdiği Epik Tiyatro kavramı ile 20. Yüzyıl tiyatrosunda çığır açmış olan Bertolt Brecht ve sahne müziğine getirdiği yenilikler ile yaşadığı çağın öncü müzisyenleri arasına girmiş Kurt Weill’ın ortak çalışmasıdır. Üç Kuruşluk Opera, 1728 yılında Londra’da sahnelenmiş müziği Johan Christopher Pepusch’a, librettosu John Gay’e ait olan “The Beggar’s Opera / Dilencinin Operası” adlı “ballad opera” dan uyarlanmıştır. 1928 yılındaki ilk sahnelenişinden itibaren Almanya’da ve tüm Avrupa’da beklenmedik düzeyde büyük bir başarıya ulaşmış ve defalarca sahnelenmiştir. Üç Kuruşluk Opera, epik tiyatronun ilk örneklerinden sayılmaktadır. Oyun Almanya’daki dünya prömiyerinden 26 sene sonra Amerika’da Broadway sahnelerinde de büyük bir başarı yakalamıştır. İngilizce çevirisindeki adı “Mac The Knife” olan oyunun açılış şarkısı tüm dünyada büyük bir üne kavuşmuş, yüzlerce şarkıcı ve müzisyen tarafından yeniden yorumlanmıştır. Üç Kuruşluk Opera bugün hala müzikli oyun tarihinin en önemli eserlerinden biridir ve tüm dünyada sahnelenmeye devam etmektedir.

“Die Dreigroschenoper / The Threepenny Opera” is the collaboration of Bertolt Brecht, who broke new ground in 20th century theater with the concept of Epic Theater he developed, and Kurt Weill, who became one of the pioneering musicians of his age with the innovations he brought to stage music. The Threepenny Opera is adapted from the ballad opera "The Beggar's Opera", staged in London in 1728, with the music by Johan Christopher Pepusch and the libretto by John Gay. Since its first performance in 1928, it has had an unexpected success in Germany and all over Europe and has been staged many times. The Threepenny Opera is considered one of the first examples of epic theatre. The play also achieved great success on the Broadway stages in the United States, 26 years after its world premiere in Germany. The opening song of the , which is called “Mac The Knife” in its English translation, has gained great fame all over the world and has been performed by hundreds of singers and musicians. The Threepenny Opera is still one of the most important works in the history of musical plays and continues to be staged all over the world.
