Abstract
Farklı toplum ve inanışlarda kendine yer bulan acı çekme ritüellerinin sanata yansıması, bu ritüellerin görsel bir şekilde betimlenerek, seyirlik nesne haline dönüşüyle başlamaktadır. 1960’larda ortaya çıkan Beden Sanatı dâhilinde fiziksel acıyı tecrübe eden birçok sanatçı mevcuttur. Bu deneyimlerinin ortak sebepleri ve farklı noktaları bulunmaktadır. İster acıyı yüceltme, onu bir arınma aracı olarak kullanma sebebiyle olsun, ister acının zihnin uyanıklığına ve buradalığına yardımı sebebiyle olsun bu tarz sanatsal eylemler, sanat izleyicisinin beden ve özne üzerine bilinen toplumsal değerlerini alt üst etmekte ve farklı açılardan düşünümlerin gerçekleşmesine yardım etmektedir. Birebir yaşanmayan, yalnızca televizyon ekranından seyredilen ya da gazete ve internet haberlerinden okunan şiddet içeren olayların sıradanlaştığı çağımızda, kendilerini acıya gönüllü bir şekilde maruz bırakan sanatçıların bu eylemleri mazoşist bir eylem midir, değilse sebepleri neler olabilir? Bu bağlamda, çalışmada seçilen beden sanatı sanatçılarının performansları ele alınacak, kavramsal çözümlemeleri yapıcalak ve performansların mazoşizm ile ortak yanlarının ya da farklarının neler oldukları sorunsallaştırılacaktır.

Abstract
The reflection of painful rituals to art that found a place themselves in different societies and beliefs begins with depicting these rituals visually and turning into theatrical objects. There are many artists who experienced phisical pain within the scope of Body Art which come into view in 1960’s. These experiences of them have got common reasons and different points. Whether it’s because of glorify the pain and use it as a medium for catharsis or by virtue of pain’s help to awakeness of mind and presence, this kind of artistic actions tempests social values on body and subject which known by art audience and helps to actualize toughts from different aspects. In our era that violent events that are not experienced directly but watched only through television screens or read from newspapers and internet news became ordinary, are these kind of actions of the artists who voluntarily expose themselves to the pain masoscistic actions, if not, what may be the reasons of them? Concordantly in the study, selected performances of the body art artists will be discussed, conceptual analysis of them will be done and what may be the common points or the differences between performances and masochism will be problematize.
