Abstract
Platon’un felsefesinde çözümsüz görünen çoğu problem için bir anahtar niteliği taşıyan Timaios diyalogunun kurgusal motifi, felsefe tarihinin en ateşli tartışmalarından birine kaynaklık etmektedir. Bu motife yazar tarafından özellikle kendi Devlet diyalogunu çok fazla andıran bir özetin dahil edilmiş olması, hem Timaios’un orijinalliğine dair bazı şüphelerin hem de Platon’un felsefesinin bütünlüğüne dair bazı büyük soru işaretlerinin doğmasına yol açmıştır. Bu konuda özellikle 20. yüzyılın başlarından itibaren yürütülmüş tartışmalar Platon’un diyaloglarını bir bütün hâlinde anlamak yolunda önemli mesafeler kat edilmesini sağlamıştır. Her ne kadar Timaios hakkında bazı orijinallik problemleri öne sürülmüşse de bugün diyalogun orijinal olduğu pek çok uzman tarafından kabul edilmektedir ve bu durum Timaios’daki Devlet özetini Platon araştırmaları açısından çok daha önemli hâle getirmektedir. Bu yazıda Timaios’un bu kurgusal motifinin ayrıntıları incelenerek, ortaya çıkan sorunun esas itibarıyla yapay bir sorun olduğu ileri sürülmekte ve bu yapay sorun için bir çözüm olarak Platon’un muhtemel tasarısının ne olduğuna dair bir öneri sunulmaktadır.

Abstract
The fictional motif of the Timaeus dialogue, which is a key to many of the problems seen in Plato's philosophy, is the source of one of the most heated debates in the history of philosophy. The inclusion of a summary in this motif by the author, which is particularly reminiscent of his own Republic dialogue, has raised both some doubts about the originality of Timaios and some big question marks about the integrity of Plato's philosophy. The discussions about the issue made since the beginning of 20th century have made important contributions to the way of comprehending dialogues as a whole. Although there have been some suggestions about the originality problem of Timaeus, today many scholars accept that the dialogue is original and this makes the reminiscent passage more important in the context of Plato studies. In this article, by examining the details of this fictional motif of Timaios, it is argued that the emerging problem is essentially an artificial one, and a suggestion is offered as to what Plato's possible design is as a solution to this artificial problem.
