Abstract
İstek kipi, vezne uygunluk ve söyleme kolaylığı açısından Klasik edebiyatın en işlek kipidir. Geniş zaman, gelecek zaman, şart kipi, istek kipi ve iktidârî fiil işlevinde kullanılmıştır. Nola, nolaydı edatları da bu kip yardımıyla üretilmiştir. Klâsik dönemde istek kipinin dua işlevi de mevcuttur. Bugün toplum ve birey istekleri kat kat artmasına rağmen istek kipinin yok oluşu da kültürel yozlaşmanın sonucudur. Bugün tüketim kültürünün değiştirdiği değerler yüzünden istek kipi demode bulunmakta ve kullanım kalkmaktadır. Konuşma ve yazı dilinde, eskiden istek kipiyle kurulan ifadeler bile değişmiş, yerini şart ve emir kiplerine bırakmıştır. Hayr ola, kolay gele vb. ifadeler bugün hayır olsun, kolay gelsin şeklinde emir kipine dönüşmüştür. Sonuç olarak Klâsik edebiyatta birçok fiil kipi yerine kullanılabilen istek kipi (-A) bugün maalesef standart dilde işlevini kaybetmiş durumdadır.

As a result, the will mode (-A) which can be used in place of many verb modes in classical literature has unfortunately lost its standard dildo function today.
