Abstract
Eski çağ insanlarının geçmişteki yaşamlarını, kültür, teknoloji, inanç ve davranışlarını anlama ve anlamlandırmamızda seramiklerin rolü ve önemi oldukça büyüktür. Japon Jomon Devri seramikleri günümüz seramik tarihi literatüründe dünyanın en eski seramikleri unvanına sahip olması ve dünyada başka benzerlerinin olmaması iddiasıyla birlikte tasarım, plastik değer, estetik ve üzerlerinde yer alan ip desenli süslemelerinden dolayı önem arz etmektedir. Japon takımadalarında radyokarbon yöntemiyle yapılmış kronolojik tarihlendirmesi birkaç evreden oluşan geniş bir coğrafi alanda ve farklı bölgelerde gelişerek varlık gösteren Jomon Devri kültürüne ait seramiklerin kronoloji evreleri, tarihsel, sanatsal, plastik, form ve süsleme özellikleriyle seramik sanatı tarihi açısından önemi ve niteliği araştırmanın konusu olmuştur. Çalışmada Japon kültüründe özel ve ayrıcalıklı bir yere sahip olan Jomon Devri seramiklerinin tarihsel süreç içerisindeki gelişimi ve özellikleri geniş literatür taraması sonucu ulaşılarak elde edilen örnekler üzerinden incelenmiştir.

Abstract
The role and importance of ceramics in understanding and making sense of the past lives, culture, technology, beliefs and behaviors of ancient people is quite large. Ceramics of Japanese Jomon are important because of their design, plastic value, aesthetics and rope patterned ornaments on them, with the claim that they have the title of the oldest ceramics in the world in today's ceramic history literature and that there are no other similar ones in the world. The chronological phases, historical, artistic, plastic, form and ornamental characteristics of the ceramics belonging to the Jomon period culture, which developed and existed in a wide geographical area consisting of several phases in the Japanese archipelago, and the chronological dating of the Japanese archipelago, consisting of several phases, has been the subject of the research. In the study, the development and characteristics of the Jomon period ceramics, which have a special and privileged place in Japanese culture, in the historical process were examined through the samples obtained as a result of extensive literature review.
