Abstract
Sanat tarihinde yaşanan en önemli dönüşümlerden biri, performans sanatının geleneksel ifade biçimlerine alternatif bir anlatım aracı olarak sanata dâhil olmasıdır. Performans sanatı, izleyici ve sanatçı arasında kurduğu doğrudan etkileşim aracılığıyla sanatın sınırlarını yeniden tanımlamış ve farklı düzlemlerde diyalogların gelişmesine olanak sağlamıştır. Bu etkileşim sürecinde eleştirel söylemin kimi zaman acı, şiddet, korku, dehşet ve şok unsurları üzerinden gerçekleştirildiği görülmektedir. İzleyici ile sanatçı arasında ortaya çıkan bu gerilim, sanatın ifade olanaklarını genişleterek çağdaş sanatın yönelimlerini anlamada önemli bir referans noktası oluşturmuştur. Bu çalışma, performans sanatıyla görünürlük kazanan şok estetiğini, çağdaş sanatta yer alan abject ve travma kavramlarıyla ilişkilendirerek değerlendirmeyi amaçlamaktadır. Nitel araştırma yöntemiyle yürütülen çalışmada, konuya ilişkin seçili örnekler incelenmiştir. Elde edilen bulgular, toplumsal çöküş dönemlerinin ardından gelişen şok estetiğinin, sanatı bir tür propaganda aracına dönüştürerek toplumsal olayların geniş kitlelere aktarılmasında etkili bir rol üstlendiğini göstermektedir.

Abstract
One of the most significant transformations in the history of art has been the inclusion of performance art as an alternative mode of expression to traditional artistic forms. Performance art has redefined the boundaries of art through direct interaction between the artist and the audience, fostering multiple layers of dialogue. Within this interaction, critical expression is often conveyed through elements of pain, violence, fear, horror, and shock. The tension that emerges between the artist and the viewer expands the expressive possibilities of art and serves as a crucial reference point for understanding the dynamics of contemporary art. This study aims to examine the aesthetics of shock, which gained visibility through performance art, in relation to the concepts of abjection and trauma in contemporary art. Conducted through a qualitative research method, the study analyzes selected examples relevant to the topic. The findings indicate that the aesthetics of shock, which emerged following significant periods of social collapse, opened the door to new forms of propaganda and played an influential role in communicating major socio-political events to a wider audience through art.
