Abstract
Mitoloji,milletlerin masallaşmış tarih öncesi efsanelerinin tümüdür. Mitoloji hikâyeleri daima insanüstü, hatta tabiatüstü olayları anlatmıştır. Mitlerle antik dönemlerin düşünüş ve psikolojisini yansıtmış ve bu yansıtma sözden sonra sanat yolu ile günümüze kadar gelmiştir. İnsanlar ilk zamanlarında korkularını, inançlarını ve hikâyelerini mağara duvarlarına, taşların üzerine aktarmıştır. Toplumların yaşayış ve inançlarının belgesini bu mitolojiler oluşturmuştur. Günümüzde de görsel sanatlarda mitolojik öğeler, farklı birçok tasarım içerisinde şekillenerek yeniden hayat bulmuştur. Makalemize konu olan sanatçımız Can Göknil, farklı tekniklerle pek çok çalışmalar yapmıştır. Türk mitolojisinin tanıtımı ve günümüzde de bilinirliğine yaptığı katkı açısından Can Göknil’in ortaya koyduğu eserler oldukça çarpıcıdır. Bu makalede de günümüz sanatçılarından Can Göknil’in Türk Mitolojisinden yola çıkarak eserlerinde kullandığı mitolojik motif ve semboller incelenecektir.

Abstract
Mythology is all of the pre-historic legends of nations that became stories. Mythological stories have always described transcendental and even supernatural events. Myths reflected the thoughts and psychology of antiquity and this reflections has reached today through art. In the early ages people pictured their fears, beliefs and stories on the walls of caves and on the stones. Those myths evidenced life styles and beliefs of the societies. Nowadays, mythological items in visual arts revived by being reshaped in many different designs. The artist subject to our work, Can Göknil, has done a lot of work with different techniques. The works that he exhibited are quite striking owing to the contributions of them to the presentation and fame of the Turkish mythology In this article, the mythological motifs and symbols used with the inspiration of Turkish mythology by the contemporary artist, Can Göknil will be examined.
