Abstract

With the 1961 Constitution, Republic of Turkey met with coalition and minority governments. After the period which started with declaration of the military memorandum, none of the formed governments could not manage to come to power alone. The longest governments of 1970s were The Nationalist Front Governments which were also coalition governments. These governments took office in a period when there are domestic problems such as political issues, political dissemination of politics increasing day by day, economic problems and unstable political environment, as well as external issues such as the Cyprus issue, the Continental shelf problem and the US embargo. It can be said that these right-wing parties that composes the government are nationalist and ideologically united. These parties had also special purposes as well as common aims in their willingness to come power. On the other hand, all of these parties had different nationalist attitudes despite their nationalist considerations. After looking at Turkish nationalism in general, the article, aims to reveal what kind of nationalism these parties have in these understanding of nationalism.
