Abstract

Orhan Kemal, one of the most important authors of Turkish Literature, has produced his most influential works between 1950's and 1970's and his works especially on the socialist realistic view. The most striking feature of Orhan Kemal's work is the emergence of heroes' conflicts in their inner world and the spoken word of the accumulation of intense emotions in them. This is undoubtedly one of the main factors that make it possible to adapt his works to both theater and cinema. Bekçi Murtaza, 72. Koğuş, İspinozlar (Devlet Kuşu), Arkadaş Islıkları, Eskici, Müfettişler Müfettişi (Üçkağıtçı) Muammer Muammer and Tersine Dünya have adapted the novel to the theater due to these characteristics and still continue to be portrayed in various stages. In the meantime, the Bekçi Murtaza in the game 'Guard Murtaza' has an important place in the character the Turkish Theater. The play Arkadaş Islıkları, which is the adaptation of another novel, is able to transfer the question of life through love with intense theatrical codes and this structure can represent a unique place at our theater
