Abstract

The aim of this research is to investigate life satisfaction and coping strategies of parents whose children are developmentally inefficient in terms of some variables. Data were collected from 579 parents via Demographical Information Form, Life Satisfaction Scale and Coping Strategies Scale. The findings can be summarized as; in terms of life satisfaction and coping strategies, parents whose children are developmentally inefficient differ meaningfully in the subscale of seeking social support of the Coping Strategies Scale in terms of gender. Women were found to prefer to seek more social support comparing to men. Also a meaningful difference was found in the subscales of problem solving and seeking social support of the Coping Strategies Scale when comparing life satisfaction and coping strategies of parents whose children are developmentally inefficient in terms of parents’ educational levels.
