Abstract

Being born in the city of Nice in France to artist parents, conduced Yves Klein towards meeting art at an early age. The blue of the sky, which he realized during one of his journeys, is the beginning of the blue age and his patented “International Klein Blue” has almost become like his uniform. Despite not getting approved by the artistic community at first, his paintings which he created by using a single color are among his works in which he expresses his philosophy of life. Partaking in the neorealism movement while pursuing his individual research, artist thinks that beauty already exists within air, water or human form and the function of the artist should be to present this fact to the rest of the humanity. His works of spirituality and his works in which nature joins forces inspire the upcoming young artists after him and he is mostly recognized by his paintings. Despite his short-lived art life, Yves Klein’s place and importance among the art history is undisputable. His death due to a third heart attack kept his art incomplete, while he was at the peak of his fame on June 6th 1962.
