HUMOR IN TRAINING PROCESS AND HUMOR ELEMENTS IN SECONDARY SCHOOL TEXTBOOKS

Abstract

Education which is defined as changing desired behavior in individual behaviors, takes place in every period of human experience. Main interlocutor of behavior change is student in the training process. Therefore, different strategies, tools, methods and techniques are used to change and shape the behaviors of the students. One of these tools is textbooks. The textbooks are selected accordance with features expressed in education programs and thus facilitating learning. Secondary Turkish lessons are continued with Turkish textbook and student workbooks. The importance of textbooks used in both education and training processes is great. It is important that the textbooks are created in such a way that they can respond to the needs of the education and training process and thus the needs of both the teacher and student. Textbooks is defined that consisting of rich texts equipped with cognitive and affective skills appropriate to the age and level of knowledge of the students, is prepared in accordance with the principles of the learning program and is able to transfer the information to the students. Humor generally means that entertaining,laughing or kidding without hurt to someone. Humor present us funny side of real life,behavior,words.Instead of making our speech in so many words,sometimes we can describe the things that we want to tell in a short way by using humor.Sometimes the idiom “hitting the right note” finds its meaning. It is thought that the features of humor with collecting attention,attracting attention,and being fun will be beneficial. Child who is in education age and thinks abstractly begins to develop sense of humor. So the children also interest in humorous elements. There are many different ways to love student lesson or keep the interest of the student alive. One of them is thought to be humor. The use of humor by teachers during the course can change according to their personal traits. Yet, humor is elevated with textbooks having a vital role during teaching period have humorous elements regardless of the personality of the teachers. Thus, the benefits of the humor in the education and training process will be utilized. It is considered that textbooks, having a vital role during teaching period,have humorous elements will keep interesting alive and will have a positive effect on learning.
