Abstract

This research was carried out to determine the decision-making styles of basketball referees, to examine them according to some demographic variables and to determine the relationships between them. In descriptive model research, Decision-making styles is determined by using “Melbourne Decision-Making Scale” developed by Mann et al. (1998) and Personal Information and Opinion Form which was developed by the researcher were used as data gathering tools. The sample group of the study consisted of 238 volunteer participants who were determined by simple random method. Percentage and frequency methods were used to determine the demographic characteristics of the referees, and Kolmogorov-Smirnov normality test has been executed to determine the data distribution. Following the confirmation of the data’s relevance to the parametric test, t test and One- way ANOVA tests were executed to determine the significant difference. Pearson's Chi Square Correlation analysis was used for relational determinations. According to the results of the analysis, self-esteem and decision-making styles in decision making; Significant differences were found in the marital status, ranking refereeing year, refereeing year and monthly income levels (p <0.5).
