Abstract

India, as a country very different from with the structure of culture, has maintained its characteristics as a country which attracted the attention in the each term of history. India has its own unique cultural structure with its caste system and beliefs. Beliefs in India provide a basis of this cultural structure. The people of India, consists of a mixture of the Aryans and aborigines. As a result of a synthesis of the two communities' beliefs, a belief system had been born that has not been seen in any other region in the world. India belief system has a structure which is so different in all aspects and so complex. In this study we followed a way as follows: The Indus civilization and the structure of the indigenous people. The arrival of the Aryans to the territory of India and the emergence of the sacred Vedic texts. Brahmins which contain the Vedas commentaries and Brahmins which stand out with the ritual sacrifice. Over time, the growing population of Brahmins and the reaction against Brahmins. As a result of this reaction, emergence of new formations such as Jainism and Buddhism. The melting of the beliefs in India under the influence of Hinduism and the progress towards a monotheistic religion. The emergence of monotheistic Sikhism with the influence of Islam. After all these developments, the formation of Hinduism which is the case of the synthesis of the beliefs in India. The reason is why Hinduism has many gods. The begining of the debate “Is Hinduism a monotheist religion or is Hinduism a polytheist religion?”. Making a solution work with the term of “Henotheism” which was coined by Max Müller to this discussion. The solution which is found by Max Müller, in fact has not gone further than solving the problem with another problem. Therefore, the problem has remained unsolved in the middle. For this reason we worked on the reason and the solution of this problem in our thesis.
