Abstract

In our country, thousands of occupational accidents happen every year, and a significant part of these occupational accidents result in death. The construction sector also emerges as a sector in a very dangerous class, where job accidents often occur. Unlike the palliative solutions applied up to now, Law No. 6331 on Occupational Health and Safety was enacted in 2012 in order to prevent job accidents in the sector and to remedy this problem. With this law, the obligations of both employers and employee have increased. Within the scope of this study, TR32 (Aydın, Denizli, Muğla) region tried to reveal occupational health and safety conditions of employee and employers in the construction sector. In this sense, the data obtained from TURKSTAT Household Labor Force Survey and Income Life Conditions surveys were evaluated. An in-depth interview was also held with employee and employers and the Joint Health and Safety Units. The data obtained through in-depth interviews were compared with the TURKSTAT micro data sets and the evaluations and suggestions about the findings were tried to be presented.
