Abstract

Since the democratic parliamentary order is present in all the institutions in Turkey, the referendum (public vote) is perceived as a process political choice. Therefore, the referendum process in terms of political parties includes propaganda activities in the form of the political preferences of the people and as an attempt to be persuaded in terms of votes. Today, studies with functional prescriptions, such as creating interest in referenda, providing information flow and shaping political behavior of electors, are carried out from social media within the scope of political communication. This study was carried out in order to reveal how political parties use political communication activities through content analysis. The findings of the study show that political parties frequently use Twitter as political sharing and think that social media is important for political communication. The findings of the study show that political parties use Twitter to ensure the flow of political information, and that the political parties talk about their corporate Twitter accounts. The study of the relationship between the political communications on Twitter Turkey in 2017 is of great importance in terms of being a research in the process of constitutional change referendum
