It involves technical terms like total fertility rate, gross reproduction rate, net reproduction rate, migration, birth, death, various rates in terms of percent or per thousand etc. Increase in populations is a concern and preoccupation of humanity ever since its mathematical formulations by T. Malthus in early nineteeth century. Being “crowded” may in some cases bring about certain advantages; but it may sometimes cause problems about sharing the available scant resources of all sorts. In our day, it is usually the poor countries who are overpopulated and it is the rich ones where the populations are stagnant or even diminishing / shrinking. Countries consisting of essentially elderly populations also suffer from different troubles of their own. Women generally outlive men biologically. Rural families have more children than urban families.
