The core national, spiritual and universal values of “justice, friendship, honesty, self-control, patience, respect, love, responsibility, patriotism, benevolence” are featured in the curriculum. The purpose of the study was to investigate the inclusion level of self-control value in Turkish language textbooks taught in grade 5, 6, 7, and 8 in Turkey in 2019/2020 academic year. Hence, a document analysis method was employed in the study using the Turkish language textbooks, distributed to grade 5-8 students in 2019/2020 academic year, as documents. The inclusion level of self-control value in Turkish language textbooks was compared at all levels of secondary school. The self-control value was analyzed in preparatory exercises, texts, activities, and end-of-unit evaluation, using a qualitative descriptive analysis.
