Abstract

Bulgarians are a Slavic Turkish tribe who converted to Christianity and forgot their Turkish. In their language contain many words from old and new Turkish. Bulgarian language which belongs to the Eastern branch of the Southern Slavic languages interacted with Turkish for about 500 years between 14-19 centuries as Turkish was “super stratum”. Many studies have been conducted by researchers on Turkish words and elements in Bulgarian nearly for a century and a half. The nationalities of the researchers who wrote these studies, the types of studies such as thesis, articles, papers and the amount of the studies in terms of the languages in which they have written in a holistic perspective. A total of 714 works, 223 of which are on borrowing factors of Turkisms and 491 of them directly or indirectly on Turkisms, are listed in this study. These studies were given in a four-step frame and a thematic classification has been carried out: determination, classification, analysis, revival.
