Abstract

The primitive art consists of the arts of prehistoric times, arts of primitive communities that have survived until today without reaching the level of civilization, folk arts, artistic productions by children and those with mental illness. This study was delimitated as Primitive Human Sculptures and Personal Essays in Anatolia. Anatolia, which is one of the geographies where the first foundations of civilization were laid, is known to have hosted eight successive civilizations in about 9000 years. In this process, we encounter material culture remains and especially visual applications of civilizations produced in different ages in Anatolia which can be named as Primitive Art. it is known that many art movements of Primitive Art attracted the attention of pioneering artists and they made contemporary interpretations inspired by these works. General characteristics of primitive sculptures in the world are mentioned in the introduction part of this study. In addition, evaluations are made by giving examples about which art movement this art, an object of contemporary art, is in the field of interest and the works of the artists. In the second section, the primitive sculptures that emerged in Anatolia are mentioned. The periodic situations, building materials and subjects of these sculptures are dealt with. These primitive sculptures, which are the subject of contemporary art, are evaluated by giving examples from the works of the artists. In the last section, personal practices are made from clay, inspired by Primitive Sculptures developed in Anatolia.
