In this study, the differences between the practice of the understanding of the “fasıl”, which is an important part of our Turkish Art Music, in the past and its current performance are revealed, and the fasıl programs broadcast in TRT İzmir Radio between 1994-2018 are examined in terms of the variety of maqams. In the study, the performances on TRT Izmir Radio are listed from the most used maqam to the least used. The top 10 maqams of this ranking are compared with the 10 most frequently produced maqams in the TRT repertoire. Statistical techniques were used in the comparison and it was seen that there were 7 maqams in common in both rankings. These maqams are listed as Hüseyni, Hüzzam, Kürdilihicazkar, Nihavent, Rast, Hicaz and Hicazkar. Despite the abundance of common maqams, when comparing the number of fasıl programs that uses these maqams in the TRT Izmir Radio fasıl programs and the amount of works given in the repertoire, it cannot be said that the maqam with the greatest amount of works in the repertoire is the one with the most popular fasıl maqam in radio programs. The reason for this can be explained by the knowledge and orientation of the chiefs who prepare the fasıl repertoires in radio programs.
